AluMat is only 2 mm high and can be laid on existing stable surfaces and directly under the new floor. However, we recommend that you install a 3 mm reflector plate or the like to absorb any unevennesses of the subfloor. The reflector plate also provides additional insulation, dampens the sound of footsteps and protects the heating mat from pressure from the floor. The fiberglass-reinforced aluminum foil distributes the heat evenly across the entire floor and serves as grounding, as well.
The heating mat is fitted with a heating cable with a diameter of just 1.2 mm, and the complete installation therefore only takes up approx. 10 mm of space when AluMat is equipped with a 3 mm reflector plate.
AluMat is ideal for renovation projects requiring low construction height and is by far the easiest way to install floor heating under the “soft” types of flooring. There is a choice of two power outputs depending on the overall level of insulation and the current heating requirement in the room.
We recommend that you choose a thermostat with a built-in temperature limiter to control your AluMat floor-heating mat, and floor manufacturers recommend that you set the thermostat at max. 27° C. By following these recommendations, you eliminate any risk of damaging your floor by too rapid heating and high temperature.
